Privacy Policy
In short: the numbers you type into a calculator are worked out in your browser and are never sent to us. CaloriesTools has no accounts and shows no advertising. We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the pages; it does not record what you type into the calculators.
Who we are
CaloriesTools (“we”, “us”) is a free website of calorie and nutrition calculators. You can contact us at info@caloriestools.com.
What you enter into the calculators
Your age, sex, height, weight and other inputs are processed by JavaScript running on your own device. They are not transmitted to us, saved on a server, or shared with anyone. They disappear when you close or refresh the page.
What your browser stores
If you switch between metric and imperial units, the site remembers your choice in your browser’s local storage under the name cc-units, and if you pick Arabic it remembers that under cc-lang, so the next page opens with the same choices. This stays on your device, is never sent to us, and you can remove it by clearing site data in your browser. The site also saves its own pages and files in your browser so that it opens faster and works offline. None of what you type is saved this way. Microsoft Clarity, described under Analytics, sets its own cookies.
Messages you send us
The contact form opens your own email app. We receive only what you choose to send, such as your name, email address and message. We use it to reply to you and to check and fix errors. We keep it only as long as needed for that purpose, and we will delete it if you ask.
Hosting and server logs
The company that hosts this website may automatically record technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the time of the request. This is standard for web hosting and is used to run and secure the service. We do not use these logs to identify individual visitors. Please see your host’s own privacy policy for details.
Analytics
We use Microsoft Clarity to see how visitors use the site: which pages are visited, where people click and scroll, and where a page is confusing. Clarity collects this through cookies and similar technology, together with technical details such as your browser, device, approximate location and the pages you view. The calculators, their results and the contact form are hidden from Clarity, so your age, weight, height, results and messages are not recorded.
Microsoft processes this data under its own privacy statement. We use it only to improve the website, not to identify you and not for advertising. You can block Clarity by turning off cookies for this site in your browser or with a tracking blocker; the calculators keep working.
Advertising
This website does not currently show advertising and does not use advertising cookies or trackers. If we add advertising in future, we will update this section, and the date at the top of this page, before any ads appear. The update will name the advertising companies involved, describe the cookies and data they use, and explain how to opt out and how to change your consent choices.
Links to other websites
Some pages link to research papers and other sites. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their privacy practices.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR, the UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act may give you the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, and to have it corrected or deleted. The only personal information we are likely to hold is an email you sent us. To make a request, write to info@caloriestools.com. If you are in the EU or UK and are not satisfied with our reply, you can complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
CaloriesTools is designed for adults aged 18 and over and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If our practices change, we will update this page and the date at the top.
